As a Digital Scholarship Research Consultant for University of Michigan’s College of LSA Technology Services, Joe Bauer specializes in digital project methods for humanities, arts, qualitative social science projects and works with scholars on conceptualizing, planning, and finding resources. Additionally, he consults on topics of sustainability, preservation, accessibility, privacy, consent, and grant requirements. Joe’s research agenda has had him exploring the interactions between information, sound, and visual arts through electronics since the early 1990’s. He blends an academic and open source approach to physical and digital tools and techniques, often using instruments built or coded himself. He holds a Ph.D. in Technology Studies, and is a governing faculty member at the Digital Studies Institute.
