Manager, Emerging Technologies and BlueCorps
About
As the Manager of Emerging Technology and BlueCorps, I focus on exploring, testing, selecting, integrating, and implementing new technology services for use in LSA classrooms and instruction. Examples of recent work include lecture capture, live streaming, videocasting, closed captioning and wireless video. Emerging Technology often helps facilitate projects that span disciplines, and so I work closely with groups and individuals both inside and outside ISS.
BlueCorps, which helps LSA students, faculty and staff with using their computers, places a strong emphasis on being approachable, and helping patrons learn how to become comfortable using technology. Everyone is somewhere along a learning continuum; BlueCorps ‘ mission is to help move people forward confidently.
I have a BA from Michigan State University, where I dual-majored in Anthropology and Multidisciplinary Social Sciences. I was the Head Teacher at an English school in Japan for four years, was an Instructional Technologist and Information Technologist in the UM Language Resource Center for 14 years, and was one of the first 14 Apple Certified System Administrators in the country. I’ve worked at the UM since 1996 (not including a stint at the League as a dishwasher when I was a teenager).
