About
Udoi Rateng is a PhD student in the joint Public Policy and Political Science program. With over a decade of experience as a public affairs researcher in Kenya in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, Udoi has conducted nationally representative polls across East Africa, helping inform policy, governance, and political mobilization strategies. His research interests straddle both public policy and political science, focusing on democratic accountability in low-GDP nations, particularly in Africa. More specifically, he examines how policy performance evaluations influence electoral outcomes and social media’s role in shaping political dynamics and voter trust. His work integrates quantitative and qualitative methods to advance knowledge and inform policy solutions, drawing from public policy and political science scholarship. Udoi has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nairobi and earned his master’s degree in Public Policy at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
