Charlotte Boucher

Charlotte's dissertation, tentatively titled 'Negotiated Citizenship: Managed Relationships with a Violent State' investigates the relationship between living in neighborhoods with high levels of violence, and the subjective citizenship of the neighborhood residents, in the United States and France. She is particularly interested in neighborhoods with high levels of both police and interpersonal violence, and how this interplay of violence and neglect impacts how these residents understand, express, and act on the rights they have as citizens of a violent state.
