Daniel Perlman is a partner in the real estate group in the Chicago office of
Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Dan has extensive experience in advising pension
funds and their advisors, national developers and retailers, foreign institutions, public and private REITs as well as investment banks and hedge funds on real estate fund and venture formation, loan workouts, sales and purchases of distressed loans, securitized, conventional and mezzanine financings, commercial development, and commercial acquisitions and dispositions.
He has represented sponsors of real estate investment funds and advised on sponsors’ and investors’ ERISA concerns as well as structured tax efficient investment vehicles. He has been lead counsel on some of the nation’s highest profile retail developments. In addition, he advises on workouts, foreclosures and bankruptcies for both borrowers and lenders. He has experience in municipal and state incentive financings, joint venture equity investments and construction financings. Daniel has been ranked in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2005. In the 2015 edition, clients said that Daniel “is a technically great lawyer and he thinks like a businessperson.” He has also been recognized by The Legal 500 U.S. for Real Estate law every year since 2012 and by Who’s Who Legal - The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers for Real Estate in its 2015 edition.
