Samuel J. Eldersveld Collegiate Professor, Mark Tessler was recently quoted in The Huffington Post regarding this year's election. The article was titled, "Here's What Could Happen If Donald Trump Doesn't Accept The Election Results."

The article discusses the threat of Trump refusing to concede and the tradition of peaceful transfers of power in America. Tessler brings up that voters should think about how elections work in developing countries where people may react differently to results.

"If people think elections are unfair or rigged or fraudulent in some important way, this has an important impact on their basic commitment to democracy," he states.

Tessler continues to say, "Some of the people who are gravitating...to Trump are people who feel, rightly or wrongly, that the system doesn't care about them. Belief that the election is rigged may be a confirmation of that in their minds."
