PitE provides an interdisciplinary learning experience to students, giving them skill sets that are necessary to work in a variety of sectors, both public and private.
Natural science-focused students go on to work in forestry service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Geological Survey, conservation organizations, animal sanctuaries, and restoration field work.
Social science-focused students often find work in areas of environmental education, state and regional environmental planning, law, corporate social responsibility, environmental justice and community engagement
Students interested in cultural areas often work as filmmakers, photographers, journalists, environmental advocacy through art, and are musicians.
