AP/IB Credit For PitE Major Prerequisites, Major Core Courses, and Minors
- AP/IB credit in Environmental Science, Microeconomics, and Biology fulfills PitE major prereqs. AP Econ credit will appear as ECON 101X for 2 credits on your transcript, and while this is not considered exactly equivalent to Econ 101 at UM, it is acceptable for the PitE prereq.
- AP/IB will NOT be used for PitE minor requirements.
Transferring Classes
- Check the Transfer Credit Equivalency (TCE) website to see if the class has already been approved to transfer to U-M. If the class is not listed on the TCE, it has not been evaluated for transfer. Submit the name of the institution and the course syllabus to Program in the Environment at environment.program@umich.edu for evaluation. If known, please also indicate the specific PitE major or minor requirement for which you are seeking credit.
- An additional step may be required in this process. If the class does not appear on the TCE list, it should be evaluated by the UM credit evaluators. If you are a current UM student, you may submit an evaluation request using the TCE request form.
- PitE Minors are required to take at least 9 minor credits in residence.
- If you plan to complete prerequisite or core courses at another institution, see a PitE Academic Advisor and review the UM Transfer Credit Equivalency Guides.
Contact environment.program@umich.edu with any questions concerning this process.
