George Kling

George W. Kling is a Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan and primarily studies ecosystem ecology in relation to environmental problems. He teaches courses in Global Change (ENVIRON 110), Aquatic Ecology (EEB 483), and Professional Development (EEB 525). His research is mainly in aquatic ecosystems from the Arctic to the tropics, and he was lead author of the UCS-ESA publication ‘Confronting Climate Change in the Great Lakes Region’ (2003). He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and received a National Science Foundation Presidential Faculty Fellowship, a National Academy of Sciences Young Investigator Award, the United Nations Sasakawa Award (Certificate for Disaster Reduction in tropical lakes), and the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography Ruth Patrick Award for environmental problem solving.
