About
Gabriel Mordoch has been serving as the Irving M. Hermelin Curator of Judaica at the University of Michigan Library since 2019.
He received his PhD in Studies of the Portuguese Speaking-World from the Ohio State University (2017) and his master’s degree in Jewish Languages from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2011). His bachelor’s degree in Judaic Studies is from the University of São Paulo, Brazil (2006).
As curator of Judaica, Gabriel serves as the U-M Library liaison to the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies and outreachs to other related academic departments. He provides specialized reference and research consultations for faculty and students in the area of Judaic Studies and offers library instruction classes in Judaic Studies.
His duties include acquiring, managing, and assessing the library's Judaic Studies collections in all formats and languages, as well as engaging in research, digital scholarship, scholarly publication, and librarianship service activities.
Gabriel curates the U-M Library Jewish Heritage Collection, manages the U-M Library Judaic Studies Research Guide, and contributes posts to the U-M Library Special Collections Research Center blog Beyond the Reading Room.
