Gallery Coordinator
About
As Gallery Coordinator, AJ Mendelsohn supports the planning, installation, and curation of exhibitions and related public programs. He coordinates exhibition logistics, working closely with artists, vendors, and campus partners to create engaging gallery experiences through exhibition production, communications, and visitor engagement. He also provides administrative support for the institute's arts programming, helping to ensure projects and artist residencies run smoothly from planning through completion.
He has a BA in Art History and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A former Chicago-based curator, programmer, and art historian, he is interested in exploring experimental film and video, queer art and theory, and new media art. He was previously the Program Coordinator for the Visiting Artists Program at SAIC, and is on the screening committees for the Ann Arbor Film Festival and the Onion City Experimental Film Festival. Outside of work, he is an avid rock climber and soccer player.
