About
Hi everyone! This will be my fourth year in the Comprehensive Studies Program at the University of Michigan, and I'm beyond excited to be back in Ann Arbor in person. My wife Amanda also teaches in CSP, and while both of us graduated from Michigan State University, we've both slowly overcome our deeply-ingrained trialist biases against all things Maize and Blue and have come to love teaching here. It's a truly wonderful school, and CSP is a fantastic program that we feel fortunate to be involved in. So should each of you.
I'm splitting my time this summer directing an Education Abroad program in Germany in May and June before returning to CSP in July and August, where my CSP 100 section will (fittingly) focus on home and homecoming. It's a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately, and I'm looking forward to working with you as we discuss the constructs of home, community, and belonging in our section this summer. While I've come to feel at home in Ann Arbor, my actual physical home is in Okemos, where I live with my wife and our two Maine Coon cats, Boondocks and Xiao. Looking forward to meeting all of you, and Go Blue! (okay, that's still a little hard to write:)
