Room 555 Weiser Hall Map
In this two-day event, Dr. Vincent Nnamdigadi Chigor, a visiting scholar in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School, a professor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an environmental and public health microbiologist with extensive experience working with communities to improve health outcomes, will inspire interest and build participants' capacity to address the challenge of waterborne diseases through community-level water testing and treatment. Participants will receive hands-on training in water quality testing using the Portable Microbiology Laboratory (PML), Colilert, and Petrifilm methods, as well as training on affordable household water treatment options, including chlorine disinfection and solar pasteurization. The workshop will equip participants with practical skills to assess water safety, identify risks, and promote safer water practices in resource-limited communities.
