ASC-affiliate and ASRI representative on ASC's Executive Committee, Cheryl Moyer has received the 2018 Sarah Goddard Power award, in recognition of her contributions to the betterment of women through their leadership, scholarship or other ways in their professional life. Moyer, who is an assistant professor in the Medical School and an associate director for Global REACH, studies maternal and neonatal health in sub-Saharan Africa, specifically Ghana, where she co-leads (with partners in Northern Ghana) a three-year project on the social and cultural factors associated with maternal and neonatal deaths or cases involving mothers and babies who almost died. This project, now funded by USAID, grew out of a Seed Grant project awarded funding by ASC's ASRI.
