ASC Faculty Associate Charles Lwanga has received the African Studies Association’s 2025 Best Published Article award for his work published in the African Studies Review.
The African Studies Center (ASC) at the University of Michigan
ASC provides strategic guidance and coordination for Africa-related education, research, and training activities on campus, and promotes opportunities for collaboration with African partners on the continent.
Founded in 2008, the center serves as a conduit for the university’s many Africa initiatives in the sciences, arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and medicine.
The center is organized around the following research initiatives that have been funded separately by the Office of the President and different stakeholders on campus: African Heritage and Humanities (AHHI), African Social Research (ASRI), STEM-Africa, and U-M African Presidential Scholars (UMAPS) Program.
