Dr. Oveta Fuller joins ASC as the new associate director
ASC is pleased to announce that beginning July 1, 2014, Dr. A. Oveta Fuller assumed the position of associate director of the African Studies Center.
Dr. Fuller is an associate professor of microbiology and immunology. She is currently co-coordinator of the STEM-Africa Initiative and an active member of its steering committee. Her transnational field research in Sub-Saharan African countries of Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa examines how to effectively move biomedical science advances and understanding about HIV/AIDS into broader community use. As a 2012-13 J. William Fulbright Scholar, she spent a 10-month residency for research in communities of Zambia.
We look forward to working with Dr. Fuller over the coming year to serve and connect the Africanist community at U-M and advance our partnerships in Africa
