Abstract:
"In 1993 I formally proposed that the orderly arrangement of mounds at the Mississippian center of Moundville was a sociogram, indicating a segmentary social structure. My students and I spent more than a decade conducting excavations to investigate that claim. I will revisit those excavations and what we discovered. I will conclude with a contemporary review of the original question."
