Pre-Health Advisor
About
What is your advising philosophy? For me, advising does not have a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, it is a bit challenging to identify a particular advising approach since each student could require different needs. My aim is to have a holistic perspective to each student and quickly assess which advising approach would be most effective such as appreciative, strength-based, developmental, etc.
What was your path to Newnan? After gaining experience at my previous institution working with exploratory students and working in a medical school, I knew that I wanted to work with students in a more specific capacity. I wanted a role that I would thoroughly enjoy, hence my current role in pre-health advising.
Why did you join Newnan? Newnan gives me the opportunity to maximize my pre-health skills and knowledge along with top tier professional and student resources. This is very important to me as I want to grow as a Student Affairs professional to better support students at all levels within their academic career.
Class you loved and why? My favorite class was focused on deviant behavior. I believe this is where I was able to develop critical thinking abilities as the curriculum focused on how society deems actions deviant and also why people make those decisions. It was interesting to ask the question "Is this really deviant, and if not, what is it?"
