About
What is your advising philosophy? My advising philosophy is student-centered and holistic. Every student has their own diverse experiences, goals, strengths, and varying needs. My goal is to create an inclusive environment where all students feel safe and supported. Even during stressful times, I strive to provide stability, understanding, guidance, and encouragement.
What was your path to Newnan? My path to Newnan took some time. As an undergraduate, I was a nursing student, and I quickly realized that was not the right path for me. Through advising and career coaching, I found myself pulled towards student affairs. I applied to Eastern Michigan's Higher Education Student Affairs program in 2023 and graduated in April 2025. During graduate school, I had the opportunity to work in various offices at EMU, but my favorite role was serving as an academic advisor at the Honors College. After graduation, I applied to many open roles, but I held out hope that an academic advising opportunity would open up. A few months later, I found the position I had been wishing for here at Newnan.
What do you enjoy about working in Newnan? I joined Newnan because my values align closely with the mission and vision of the LSA. I want to empower students and assist in personal and professional growth through experiences in the classroom, across campus, and experiential learning. Additionally, I want to ensure students can make informed decisions and can access resources they need for success. Newnan is the perfect space to promote student well-being and help students reach their goals.
Class you loved and why? My favorite class was Human Relations Skills for Educational Leaders. In this course, we created self-regulation plans. Through this plan, I was able to acknowledge my common stressors and how to address them to avoid burnout and promote well-being.
Interests and hobbies: I love reading, whether it be a novel or research articles. I enjoy expanding my knowledge-- I strive to be a life-long learner. I also enjoy painting and immersing myself in nature. If you happen to have any questions about Ethiopian opals... I am the person to ask!
