Monday, October 19, 2026
4:00-5:30 PM
Rackham Amphitheater, 4th Floor Rackham Graduate School (Horace H.) Map
"Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and the Future of Democracy" with Peter Beinart will explore the intersection of law, humanity, morality, racism and bigotry and how we can use this knowledge to oppose the rise of fascism and dismantling of our civil rights and constitutionally protected freedoms.

Mr. Beinart is a renown Jewish-American journalist, political commentator, and professor known for his writing on U.S. foreign policy, Zionism, Jewish identity, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He will speak, not to endorse candidates in the upcoming election, but to urge attendees to vote and understand the issues and threats to our Democracy in making their decisions.

Peter Beinart is a NY Times columnist, professor of journalism and political science at the City University of New York (CUNY); editor and writer for the magazine Jewish Currents and numerous other publications; political commentator for networks like MSNBC and CNN, and programs such as Democracy Now; and writes the Beinart Notebook newsletter and podcast. He is the NY Times bestselling author of Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: A Reckoning and other books.
