On Friday, November 1, the Women in Science and Engineering Residence Program (WISE RP) at the University of Michigan organized an engaging networking event titled "Tea & Harmony" in collaboration with Harman International, a leading American audio electronics company owned by Samsung. This gathering provided students with a unique opportunity to connect with engineers and scientists from Harman, fostering connections and discussions about career paths in technology and engineering.
The event, held in the MO Living Room, featured Cinnaholic treats and a cozy tea setup, creating a warm and welcoming environment. Attendees, primarily women and gender-minoritized students in STEM, enjoyed learning more about Harman’s work in the audio industry and explored potential career paths. Representatives from Harman shared insights into their roles and discussed what it's like to work in an innovative, technology-driven company.
One of the event highlights included tech giveaways at the end, with some lucky participants receiving JBL headphones and other Harman audio products, adding excitement and a tangible connection to the Harman brand. This interactive and enjoyable networking experience allowed WISE RP students to build valuable industry connections while learning from accomplished professionals in the field.
This initiative aligns with WISE RP’s mission to support and empower gender-minoritized students in their pursuit of STEM careers through professional development and networking opportunities.
Overall, "Tea & Harmony" exemplified WISE RP's commitment to creating inclusive, career-focused events that inspire and prepare the next generation of engineers and scientists.
