The U-M Science, Technology, and Society Program fosters interdisciplinary teaching and research in the social, historical, and cultural studies of science, technology and medicine. Our nationally recognized faculty produce scholarship and teach courses that bring a humanistic perspective to some of the most important questions at the intersection of science, technology, and society. How do diverse communities establish the truth? How can we govern emerging technologies, from AI to genomics, for a more equitable future?
Through our research, our undergraduate minor, and our graduate certificate program, STS is preparing the next generation of engaged citizens, STEM professionals, and scholars.
With your help, we can expand our reach, offering new training and research opportunities to more students and visiting scholars, and enhancing public engagement through speaker events and conferences.

Science, Technology, and Society Strategic Fund
The STS Strategic Fund allows us to continue to grow our vibrant, interdisciplinary, cross-campus community. It supports co-faculty and student-led symposia, international conferences, and graduate student career development opportunities. It provides us the flexibility to expand our portfolio of activities, including augmented curricular offerings for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as pre- and post-doctoral fellowships.
