Statistics Ph.D. students receive prestigious Rackham awards
The Department of Statistics is thrilled to congratulate Yuqi Gu and Tim NeCamp for their prestigious Rackham awards.
Yuqi Gu, a fourth-year student, is the recipient of the 2019-20 Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship, a program that supports outstanding doctoral students who have achieved candidacy and are actively working on researching and writing for their dissertation. For this fellowship, Rackham aims to support students whose work is exceptionally creative, ambitious, or impactful. The fellowship provides three terms of support and will allow Yuqi to devote herself to full-time research as she completes her dissertation: "Statistical Analysis of Structured Latent Attribute Models.”
Tim NeCamp, a fifth-year student, is the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award. This award is to recognize GSIs for their extraordinary dedication, accomplishment, and excellence as teachers, displaying the highest levels of commitment, creativity, and skill in the classroom. Tim has taught several courses and many students over his time as a GSI in the Statistics Department, including Stats 250: Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis, and Stats 251: Introductory Statistics Supplement for Mathematics Education. Tim will receive his award at a Rackham ceremony on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Congratulations to Yuqi and Tim!
