Last year, distance runner and U-M doctoral student in statistics Mason Ferlic achieved his Olympic dream and qualified for Team USA in the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.
As described in a June 2021 Michigan Today article featuring him, Ferlic studied aerospace engineering before pursuing a PhD in statistics. With his education and experience as a world class athlete, Ferlic’s goal is to work in the exercise and science field, solving mobile health problems through the use of wearable devices and biometric sensors to improve data techniques.
The Statistics Department sends a hearty congratulations to Mason on his Olympic run!
