Gongjun Xu, Associate Professor of Statistics and Psychology, has received the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Sciences (COPSS) Emerging Leader Award. The award is to acknowledge early career statistical scientists who show evidence of and potential for leadership and who will help shape and strengthen the field. According to the COPSS website, Xu is being recognized for "making numerous breakthroughs on challenging problems in behavioral sciences, particularly in education and psychometrics, for significant theoretical and methodological contributions to latent variable models, high-dimensional statistical inference, survival and recurrent events analysis, and for outstanding editorial services and leadership."
