The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized skill assessment tool developed and administered by the Law School Admission Council to evaluate the logical and reading comprehension skills most essential to success in law school and the legal profession. The exam consists of the following format:
- Four Multiple Choice Sections (35 minutes each) comprised of three scored sections and one unscored section –
- Reading Comprehension (One section)
- Logical Reasoning (Two sections)
- And one unscored experimental section consisting of (1) additional section of either reading comprehension or logical reasoning question types to evaluate the development of new questions for future exams. The order of these sections varies, and examinees will not know which section is experimental.
- 1 Writing Section – There is (1) unscored 35-minute writing section that must be completed within 7 days of completion of the multiple choice section. This section is provided to all prospective schools as an applicant’s writing sample.
