CAS is an online service provided by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). CAS serves as the single place where you will send references, transcripts, and other application materials. It is loosely comparable to the Common Application that you may have completed when applying to undergraduate institutions. Most law schools require that you use the CAS to apply.

  • CAS prepares and sends a Law School Report to each law school to which you apply. This report summarizes your academic credentials (i.e. GPA, LSAT scores, etc.)

  • Register for CAS at least six weeks before you plan to apply to law school. Your CAS account will be active for five years from your registration date. Keep in mind that it takes time to process transcripts, references, and other documentation. Do not wait until the last minute.

  • There are fees associated with registering for CAS and the CAS Law School Report.

Fee waivers are possible to those who demonstrate financial need, but it is important to request a fee waiver early.
