Connect with an Advisor

Before scheduling your Pre-Law Advising Appointment, review the following resources and policies:

  • Watch our Pre-Law 101 recording. We host live Pre-Law 101 Sessions in both Fall and Winter terms. View our events calendar, and we hope to see you there!
  • If looking for advice regarding course selection, review our Academics overview in the Explore portion of our website before your appointment.
  • If interested in learning more about the LSAT and developing a timeline for taking the LSAT, review the LSAT portion of our website.
  • Essay Support: LSA students and alumni can schedule an appointment with a Pre-Law advisor to brainstorm ideas and discuss the key components of a personal statement and other application materials. Please select “Essay Brainstorming” as your reason for the appointment when scheduling. Note: Advisors in the Newnan LSA Advising Center are here to provide supplemental support, not edits of written work. If you are looking for additional essay resources, please read our page on Essays. If you are looking for additional support with your resume, please read our page on Academic Resumes.

Scheduling a Pre-Law Advising Appointment

The Newnan LSA Academic Advising Center offers pre-law advising appointments for students and alumni of all schools and colleges (Ross, Engineering, Ford, Kinesiology, etc.) at U-M who are considering and applying to law school. You are encouraged to make an appointment with our pre-law advisors. Please note that if you are an LSA Honors student, you will need to utilize Honors Pre-Law Advising. If you are exploring career possibilities related to the law, you may also find a career advising appointment at the University Career Center very helpful.

Currently enrolled U-M students and U-M Alumni can schedule an appointment online by clicking the button below. Please do not email Pre-Law Advisors directly to schedule an appointment. If you have issues scheduling your appointment, please contact the LSA Newnan Academic Advising Center front desk by calling (734) 764-0332.

Incoming First Year Students and New Transfer Students

Virtual Pre-Law Webinars

The Pre-Law Primer Sessions are designed for incoming students interested in exploring the pre-law path at U-M. We recommend that students attend their scheduled Virtual Academic Advising Session before attending a Pre-Law Primer Session.

These sessions run for 1.5 hours and will introduce you to support resources, address academics and course considerations, and help you jump-start your journey as a Pre-Law student. Sessions are optional and are hosted by the LSA Newnan Pre-Law Academic Advisors. They are meant to supplement your new student orientation experience. You must attend your Virtual Academic Advising Date to schedule your classes.

No advanced registration is required. The webinar content for each session is the same, but the sessions are offered at various times to suit your schedule best.

Please use this Zoom link to join a Pre-Law Primer Session.
