The pre-law path is not prescribed. As such, there are no classes that a student is required to take to prepare them for the pre-law path.

Instead, students should select classes that make sense for their growth and development. It may be helpful to choose courses that (1) broaden awareness of relevant issues (2) require close and critical analysis of difficult texts (3) exercise logical and analytical reasoning skills, and (4) develop other skills that the student has identified as helpful for pursuing a career in the legal field.

Students may find it helpful to ask themselves some additional questions when selecting a course. These questions include:

Strategic Use of the Course Guide for Course Selection

A student may have conducted informational interviews and identified a skill - such as advocacy - as a helpful skill to hone for their future career in the legal profession. The student may wish to enroll in a course that will help them hone their selected skill. Students can use the keyword search in the LSA Course Guide to identify courses that are interesting to them and will help hone their advocacy skills.
