As with honing academic skills, it takes time to form relationships which sustain you and help you develop as a health professional. Learning how to network and build connections with peers, faculty, and professional health care workers not only is a core competency you will need to be successful with your professional school applications; networking is a core skill you need to be successful once you are a physician, dentist, or other health care practitioner. Talk to a pre-health advisor about opportunities to network.

Here are some good places to get started networking:

  • UCAN Alumni Network

  • Apprenticeship and Job Shadowing Opportunities

  • Maize Pages for Student Clubs and Organizations

  • New Volunteers–Michigan Medicine

  • University Career Center
