There are multiple ways to get involved in PCAP for students, volunteer community members, formerly incarcerated folks, and the families and friends of people currently incarcerated.  If you are interested in becoming involved in any aspect of PCAP, please submit a Student and Volunteer Interest Form or contact pcapexeco@umich.edu.  

PCAP runs arts workshops in Michigan prisons and other facilities during the fall and winter terms, offered through PCAP Membership and through designated PCAP courses. Registration for a training session, held in early September and January, is required prior to facilitating a workshop.

PCAP Membership is the student organization that meets every other Wednesday evening in the fall and winter.  Meetings support on-going arts workshops in prison and other PCAP activities, with occasional guest presentations.  The PCAP Executive Committee (PCAP EXEC) is made up of undergraduates, graduate students, and community volunteers who lead PCAP Membership meetings and support workshop facilitators. Meetings take place twice a month, every other Wednesday, alternating with PCAP Membership meetings.

The Annual Exhibition of Artists in Michigan Prisons takes place in March, with opportunities to assist in collection trips, curation, sales, and programming. PCAP also supports additional smaller art exhibitions throughout the year.

The annual Art Auction usually held in early December raises funds to support the Annual Exhibition of Artists in Michigan Prisons, and features artwork by artists in the Linkage Community, currently incarcerated artists, PCAP curators, University of Michigan faculty, and local artists.

The Linkage Community welcomes creators who were formerly incarcerated, offering arts programing, professional development, and a peer-support network.  

The Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing is published annually featuring the work of incarcerated writers.
