PCAP’s Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing seeks to showcase the talent and diversity of writers incarcerated in Michigan. The journal features writing from both beginning and experienced writers - writing that comes from the heart, and that is unique, well-crafted, and lively.
The Review accepts submissions of poetry, fiction, plays, and short essays. An editorial team of students and volunteers reads all submissions and provides every non-published author with thoughtful, critical feedback. The Review is edited by University of Michigan faculty and author John Buckley and is published annually by Dakota Avenue West Publishing, Detroit. The most recent volume, I Walk Through Landmines (vol. 15, 2023), included work by over twenty writers.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and should be accompanied with a note that includes any pen names you want us to use, your Michigan Department of Corrections or Federal Bureau of Prisons ID number, and your current address. Send submissions to:
Attn: John Buckley
Prison Creative Arts Project
1801 East Quad

The Review can be purchased by mail using this order form or at the Annual Exhibition.
