Lukas was incarcerated for a white collar crime in Australia. Upon his release several years ago, Lukas, who has always been interested in academia, began to research and study educational opportunities for incarcerated people from the perspective of someone who has been incarcerated himself. He is particularly interested in convict criminology, or the study of incarceration and education through the lens of lived experience. Lukas discusses this field of study in this episode and in his own podcast, Talking Time with Lukas and Alicia. In this episode, Lukas and our hosts discuss re-entry topics including the strain incarceration puts on relationships, raising children post-incarceration, and how to control the narrative around holding a criminal record.
