“My International Studies classes and major have inspired my passion for learning about different foreign languages and cultures.

During my junior year, I studied abroad in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which was one of my most formative life experiences. A highlight included visiting The Hague — home of the Peace Palace, International Criminal Court and more. I am grateful that my International Studies major, along with the PICS study abroad fellowship, made it easier and more enjoyable for me to partake in the program.

Additionally, I have taken both Spanish and Arabic language classes as a part of my major, inspiring my path to becoming a volunteer ESL tutor for a refugee.

Overall, the PICS department has been extremely helpful in my academic and professional journeys. I am excited to utilize the knowledge I have gained from my major in my post-graduate career.”

Future Plans: “After graduation, I hope to teach English abroad or work in the public service sphere in Washington D.C. Down the line, I plan to pursue a master's degree in International Security or Global Communication.”
