“This past summer, I interned with the policy division at DC Public Schools. My main project involved drafting a student-family policy handbook. I drew upon the research and writing skills I had gained through my international studies coursework, writing extended research papers and literature reviews. When I was discussing policy initiatives with parents, teachers, or government officials, my international studies background allowed me to foster effective communication and collaboration, ensuring that the policies and initiatives we considered were not only comprehensive but also sensitive to the unique needs of different communities. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of a global perspective in addressing state and local issues, and I look forward to applying this knowledge in future opportunities.”

Future plans: “After graduation, I am planning on going to law school. Eventually, I'd love to work at a law firm or international organization!”
