Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt (November 11, 2022) – The Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET), a high-level body of engineers and energy system experts helping build the UN Secretary General’s coalition to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 has convened for the first time at the UN climate change conference (COP27).
As a member of the CEET. Peter Oviroh was one of the panel members in a session “The Role of Engineers in Implementing the Global Energy Transition.” It was hosted by the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET) and sponsored by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) in partnership with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The theme and focus: Transformative climate action SDG13.
The United Nations Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET) brings together a diverse and global council of engineers and energy systems experts to develop global and region-specific recommendations to accelerate the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
The CEET was launched in September 2021 and co-chaired by Gerd Müller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
