ASRI members analyze May 2019 South African elections
In the lead-up to the South African elections, ASRI member Noah Nathan used the lens of electoral politics in Ghana to analyze potential outcomes in South Africa, especially in regards to the voting behaviors of the urban middle class; ASRI members Anne Pitcher (U-M) and Rod Alence (U Witwatersrand) analyze the South African election results in terms of a "fundamental stress test" for the country’s democracy, which holds lessons also for established democracies facing similar challenges.
