All University of Michigan students traveling abroad for educational reasons must be covered by GeoBlue health insurance. This insurance provides outstanding coverage for a wide range of conditions and events. CGIS automatically enrolls students on CGIS programs in GeoBlue and will bill students direcly for the cost. There is a one-time sign up fee of $5.00, and the insurance is $1.68 per day. (For students studying in Spain, the cost is $1.87/day.)
Unlike many insurance providers students may be familar with, which require customers to only use in-network providers, you can go to any doctor or hospital/clinic you choose outside the United States.
As a result, students have two options to schedule and pay for appointments: Direct Pay or Reimbursement.
