Doctoral Student, Greek and Roman History
About
Dora obtained her MA from the University of British Columbia in Ancient Culture, Religion, and Ethnicity (ACRE) and a double SB from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Physics and in Ancient and Medieval Studies. She is broadly interested in power dynamics in the Roman provinces and the ways in which they intersected with and were mediated by Roman religion and myth. Her MA thesis reads Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon through a critical theory lens and incorporates both material culture and historical evidence to examine negotiations of power and identity by marginalized groups under Roman imperium at Ephesus. Dora is also involved with the Apulum Roman Villa Project in Alba Iulia, Romania, where she met her dog, Zeke.
In her free time, Dora enjoys hiking, cycling, and playing the cello.
