Jonathan McLaughlin new Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies postdoctoral scholar
Jonathan McLaughlin (PhD 2015) has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship in the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies at the University of Michigan for 2015-16. He was selected, in part, based on his interest in the Institute's new biennial theme, “Senses and Longings” (link for a detailed description). He will join faculty and graduate students from History and other departments for a series of thematically linked lectures, workshops, and symposia exploring the role of human perception, feeling, and emotion within the timescapes of human experience. These programs will draw upon the expertise of leading scholars from other institutions as well as those from the University of Michigan’s Department of History. In addition to carrying out research, Jonathan will also teach two courses for the Department of History: "Modern America and Ancient Rome" in the fall term and "The Roman Empire" in the winter term.
