Ellen Muehlberger is Professor of Christianity in Late Antiquity at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she teaches in History, with courtesy appointments in Classical Studies and the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies. At Michigan, she serves on the college-wide HumanitiesExecutive Committee, which evaluates internal dossiers for tenure and promotion. Her first book, Angels in Late Ancient Christianity, was published by Oxford University Press in 2013. Her second, Moment of Reckoning: Imagined Death and Its Consequences in Late Ancient Christianity, appeared in 2019 and was supported by an ACLS Charles A. Ryskamp Research Fellowship (2014-2015) and a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship (2016-2017). She is a member of the editorial team for the Cambridge Editions of Early Christian Writings and editor of volume 2 in that series on ancient Christian practice.
