This project was completed as part of coursework. It is an online learning module built on the Coursera platform that introduces learners to the science and real world applications of water purification. Through a combination of multimedia content and interactive activities, the module supports exploration and engagement. The design reflects an approach to learning experience design that emphasizes accessibility, pedagogy, and the thoughtful use of educational technology to create a meaningful and learner centered experience.

Content was adapted from a scientific article and redesigned into a more interactive format to support exploration and engagement.This activity introduces eight common water purification methods, including chlorination, UV purification, carbon filtration, and reverse osmosis, through an interactive Padlet. Each method includes a clickable image with key details, benefits, and limitations, allowing learners to explore the content at their own pace.

This hands-on virtual lab invites learners to design and test water filters using different materials. Through experimentation, learners can apply their knowledge of water purification to solve real world challenges. They receive immediate feedback on their design choices and are encouraged to reflect on what works and why.Virtual lab simulations were selected and embedded to support an active learning experience. The lab is structured as a challenge to encourage curiosity and problem solving, while also aligning with the overall learning objectives of the module.
