Tutoring

The Science Learning Center (SLC) offers both Drop-In Peer Tutoring and Appointment-Based Peer Tutoring to help students strengthen their understanding of science course content, build effective study habits, and gain confidence as independent learners. Tutoring options are available both in person and online.

SLC Peer Tutors are trained undergraduates with a demonstrated mastery of the course content. Tutors provide comprehensive academic support, including study strategies, understanding and mastering course concepts, problem-solving, and exam preparation.  Whether you need long term assistance or just guidance on a specific problem or concept, SLC Peer Tutoring provides the help you need

  • Demonstrate improved understanding of course content through completing practice questions independently or teaching concepts to others.
  • Ask questions, work through confusion, or learn from mistakes.
  • Utilize effective study strategies to improve their study routine.
  • Create an action plan for independent concept practice outside of tutoring sessions.
  • Gain confidence in advocating for their future learning needs.

CRLA Level 1 Certified

The SLC Tutoring Program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) as a Level 1 tutoring program. CRLA certified programs meet nationally recognized best practices for recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating tutors.
