The study of World Politics at U-M covers issues that cross national borders. Graduate and undergraduate courses cover violent conflict between and within states, international organizations, transnational concerns such as human rights and the environment, the domestic politics of foreign relations, foreign economic policies and law, development of the state, and security affairs generally. The subfield uses a wide range of research methods, including formal and game theoretic models of human behavior, the quantitative analysis of conflict and domestic politics, experiments, and large data sets. The university's commitment to interdisciplinary study supports strong creative relationships between students in the department and faculty in other departments throughout the institution.
