Zander Furnas, U-M Political Science PhD candidate in American Politics (major subfield) and Quantitative Methods (minor subfield), has been awarded the Best Paper Award from the American Political Science Association's (APSA) Parties and Political Organizations section.
Co-authored with Jesse Crosson (PhD, U-M Political Science, 2019) and Geoff Lorenz (PhD, U-M Political Science, 2017), the paper is entitled, "Polarized Pluralism, Organizational Preferences, and Biases in the American Pressure System."
Zander Furnas specializes in the role of information and expertise in the United States Congress. His dissertation examines the conditions under which Congress uses privately provisioned information produced by outside organizations in the policymaking process.
