Jesse Crosson (PhD, U-M Political Science, 2019) has won the award for Best Conference Paper in the State Politics and Policy Section of the American Political Science Association (APSA). The award committee found his paper, Divided, But by What? Divided Government and Non-Polarization Sources of Stasis, "...to be a model piece of research. It clearly explained the methods and carefully unpacked divided government, legislator preferences, and institutional rules."
Jesse Crosson is a Visiting Research Scholar at Princeton University’s Center for the Study of Democratic Politics and Assistant Professor (on leave) at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. His research agenda is motivated by my long-standing interest in why public policy changes when it does, and why it often fails to do so—even when many elites and citizens appear unsatisfied with the status quo.
