Noah Nathan: Electoral Politics and Africa's Urban Transition
Noah Nathan, University of Michigan Assistant Professor of Political Science and a Faculty Associate at the University’s Center for Political Studies, has written a new book, Electoral Politics and Africa's Urban Transition: Class and Ethnicity in Ghana. The book looks at two aspects of contemporary urban life in Africa that are often described as sources of political change: 1) the emergence of a large urban middle class and 2) high levels of ethnic diversity and inter-ethnic social contact.
Professor Nathan's research focuses on political behavior and the development of political parties in new democracies in Africa.
