Melissa joined Organizational Studies in 2005 as Student Services Assistant and became Chief Administrator in March 2007. Melissa’s responsibilities as the Chief Administrator include budget management; faculty and staff appointments; and supervision of the office staff. She serves as a liaison between the Program and the College; interprets University and College policies; and develops strategic plans with the Director and staff.
Melissa obtained her BA in German and Literary Studies from Middlebury College, VT. Upon completion of her degree, she worked in Germany in administrative roles for six years, including program coordinator assistant for an international professional exchange organization and business manager for a software company. Upon her return to the US, she worked as a project coordinator for Harvard Translations Agency in Boston. Her start at the University of Michigan began with the completion of her Masters in Higher Education Administration. Her positions have been varied across U-M units and an opportunitiy to learn every step of the way. She started at the International Center (Health Insurance Coordinator) and has worked at the Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (Education Coordinator), the Engineering Office of Graduation Education (Recruiter and Special Projects Coordinator), and the Engineering International Programs (Director). She follows her passion for international education by organizing cross-cultural activities, learning Arabic, and working toward certification in Teaching English to Students of Other Languges (TESOL).
