The Intersection of the Criminal Justice System and the Law: Advancing Reform and Social Impact
My pathway within the OS major is focused on the political and legal aspects, with a goal in delving deeper into how the legal system is affected and operates, while also critically analyzing restorative justice and reform initiatives. I am interested in how the law intersects with society through race and gender, and how individuals are affected by the justice system, particularly regarding issues of discrimination, access to justice, and systemic inequalities. I aim to utilize this knowledge to think critically about how organizations can be improved and more effective decisions can be made. Through coursework in history, sociology, and psychology, I seek to gain a nuanced understanding of decision-making processes across diverse contexts. Additionally, my minor in Crime and Justice will provide me with the tools to analyze prison reform and the criminal justice system comprehensively. I hope that this interdisciplinary approach, paired with my minor, will prepare me for law school and later on working in the legal field.
