Positive Organizational Leadership Through the Lense of Environmental Justice and Social Equity
In my Organizational Studies Pathway, I hope to explore the ways that I can serve as a leader in environmental organizations amidst a changing climate and widespread environmental injustice. I will learn about the ways in which such injustice is perpetuated by global racial- and gender-based oppression, and how organizations serve as vehicles for both inequity and positive change through the lense of restorative justice. This education will be facilitated by my study of the economics of sustainable development, change management, and behavioral sociology.
While pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in environmental studies, I hope to weave my understanding of ecological relationships into my analysis of organizations within socioeconomic and sociopolitical contexts so as to encourage positive environmental movements in both the public and nonprofit sectors. Further, I will develop skills in organizational leadership as an environmental steward. Upon graduation, my degree in Organizational Studies will set me apart as an environmental advocate, building on my ecological research with unique tools and experience to effect large-scale action across a variety of organizations.
